How much storage do I need?
The amount of email account storage you need depends on several factors, such as:
- Do your emails often include large attachments, or are they primarily brief text exchanges?
- Do you regularly delete old emails, or archive them “just in case”?
As a simple reference:
- 2 GB can typically store up to 26,400 emails;
- 15 GB can typically store up to 200,000; and
- 100 GB can typically store up to 1.3 million.
1 GB (gigabyte) = 1,024 MB (megabytes)
How much storage do I use now?
To check how much storage you use now, sign in to webmail and go to My Account.
Here you will see a usage bar that shows how much storage you are using now, out of how much you are entitled to.
In this example, this customer is using 1 GB of their 15 GB entitlement.
For more detail, please see: Check your usage quota in webmail.
How much storage am I entitled to?
Your storage entitlement depends on the email plan you’ve selected.
We currently offer three email plans, with the following storage entitlements:
- Saver plan, 2 GB storage;
- Regular plan, 15 GB storage; and
- Pro plan, 100 GB storage.
To check your current plan and storage entitlement, please go to My Account.
Note: If you have not yet selected a new email plan, you may be on a Legacy plan or First-time renewal plan. These plans include 15 GB of storage. Once these temporary plans expire, you’ll need to select one of our new email plans.
How is storage calculated?
Storage is calculated by the total amount of data you have with us (emails, Contacts, Calendar events, and Files) at any given time and is neither based on a rolling week, month, or year nor on the volume of data you send or receive.
Note: Emails in your Trash, Spam, and folders are included in the storage calculation.
What happens if my storage is full?
You have two options when your storage is full (or almost full):
1. Increase your storage entitlement; and/or
2. Reduce your storage usage.
Once your storage is full, you will not be able to send or receive emails because you have no storage entitlement left for us to store them.
To help avoid disruption to your email service, our system usually emails you a warning before your storage is full, encouraging you to take action early.
How can I increase my storage entitlement?
You can easily increase your storage entitlement by upgrading your email plan.
You can choose for your upgrade to take effect immediately or at your next renewal.
For step-by-step instructions, see: Change plan.
How can I reduce my storage usage?
To reduce your stored data, you may wish to consider:
1. Emptying your Trash and Spam folders; and/or
2. Deleting any unwanted emails from your Inbox or folders (including your Archive folder).
See our article: Reduce storage.
